VENT-O-MAT Anti-Surge and Anti-Shock Air Release and Vacuum Break Valves have a unique Anti-Surge mechanism. Once liquid approach velocities reach levels which would contribute to high velocity closure of conventional valves, the corresponding high air discharge velocities out of a VENT-O-MAT air release vacuum break valve creates a low pressure zone sufficient to levitate the top Anti-Surge float to seal against the large orifice. The controlling Anti-Surge orifice limits the air release rate from the system, uniquely and effectively limiting the approach velocity of the fluid while eliminating the potential for damaging hammer.
